Lake Holiday Ladies Club

Home

All Lake Holiday ladies are invited to attend the Ladies Club which is strictly a social club. We meet the 2nd Tuesday of each month at 12:30 PM at the Lodge. Coffee and homemade desserts are served. After a business meeting, we have an informative and/or entertaining program. Meetings are generally over by 3:00 PM.

The Club was started in 1968 for the purpose of enhancing the beauty of the lake community. Originally the Club donated the plantings and members did the actual planting and maintenance of the plants. We have continued to donate trees, bushes and flowering plants but the plantings are now done by maintenance personnel, hence the Club became a social club. In addition to plantings, the Ladies Club donates monies for various improvements. Some of the items we have donated are:

Tables, chairs, sofas and carpeting for the Lodge
10-Ft Christmas tree and decorations for the Lodge, inside & out
2 Carved wood entrance signs
Reflective street names for sign posts
Park equipment for the beaches
Benches & trash receptacles
Brick walkway at entrance to Lodge
New commercial refrigerator for Lodge
New cabanas at Beach 1

Monies to support these projects are raised through our only fundraiser – the Home Tour which is always held the 3rd Saturday in September. In 2007 we celebrated our 40th Home Tour. Tickets for the Home Tour include a tour of the homes and a complimentary tea at the Lodge. At the Lodge, in addition to the tea, you will find a Country Market (offering lunch, baked goods and home grown vegetables), Attic Treasures (gently used items), a Special Raffle, and a Craft Boutique (crafts made by the Ladies Club). All profits from this event go for a special project selected by the members for the beautification of the Lake.

If you are interested in making crafts or just socializing during the cold winter months, the Craft group meets from the end of January to the beginning of May. Under the direction of a leader, we make crafts that are sold at the Home Tour. Even if you are not “crafty” there is something for everyone. It’s a great way to meet your neighbors and to get out during the bleak winter weather. We meet Monday mornings at 9:00 AM, work until about noon, eat lunch, clean up and then go home.

During the year the Club also has a Salad Luncheon in May, outing in June, picnic in July and Christmas Party in December.

If you are new to the Lake or just find you have more free time now, why don’t you join us at one of our meetings? Guests are always welcome.
